I finally recieved the two Moleskines I ordered.
Here’s some pics I took of my hack.
If you wan’t to see a thorough description of it go HERE

A beauty, isn’t it?

Here’s how I’ve divided the Moleskine into sections indicated by tabs
Note that the to-do list is sorted in contexts so that you can view a
list of things that you can do exactly where you are thus avoiding
unnescessary stress thinking about work related stuff while at home

The Projects Index for easy overview and access of projects.

Most important, the Inbox. Write down any idea and thought here.
Be sure to check out my walkthrough of the Moleskine Hack

I’ve searched a lot to find ideas for my own Moleskine GTD hack.
During that search I’ve stumbled across numerous interesting hacks, and borrowed ideas from some of them.
Here’s some of the best hacks collected and shortly described:
PigPogPDA - GTD hack with tabs
The Moleskine Multitab Hack - GTD hack with tabs
Moleskine P!DA - Thoroughly explained GTD hack
Hyalineskies Moleskine Hack - GTD hack with tabs
Omar Shahines Moleskine Hack - GTD hack with tabs
Kody’s Moleskine iPod Hack - Room for 2 moleskines + iPod
Moleskine Indexing Hack Tool - Inverted tabs. Looks great
Moleskine Tabs Hack - Not thoroughly explained, but great hack.
There’s more great hacks, but those were enough for me to plan and make my own system.
Great GTD related sites:
43folders - Maybe the most comprehensive GTD site out there
Moleskinerie - Moleskine related site. GTD / hacks content also
Lifehacker - Moleskine related articles and hacks from Lifehacker
That’s it for now. I hope this index will save a lot of time for people who want ideas before hacking their moleskines. I will make my own illustrated thorough walkthrough when I recieve my Moleskines. The 100 paged spiralspined notebook I currently use aren’t worth taking pictures of. lol.
Now go get your things done.

UPDATE!!! Pics uploaded HERE
Be sure to check them out
I’ve tried to implement GTD (David Allen’s Getting Things Done’) using a small notebook where I use a smart system to input thoughts and ideas to be processed and transferred to a ‘To-do’ list and a ‘Projects’ list.
There’s much more to it, but I won’t write about it now. Google it.
Yesterday, I ordered 2 Moleskine notebooks to use for my GTD system.
I’ve read several ways to hack this little 192 paged notebook for GTD, but I haven’t found a thorough walkthrough that fits my needs yet.

So, here’s how I would make a ‘Moleskine GTD hack Tutorial’:
(alter the number of pages for each section to fit your needs)
—————————————————————————————————–
The date you start using the Moleskine should be marked on the egde of it, on the opposite side of the spine
When you start on a new notebook, you mark the end date also. [mm-dd-yyyy - mm-dd-yyyy] / [dd-mm-yyyy - dd-mm-yyyy]
This way you can quickly sort and store previously used notebooks
**Thanks PigPog for this one**
You should number the odd-numbered pages so that you can find your stuff easier. (pages on the right side)
Backside of
front cover = Personal Info
pages info content
—————————————————————————————————–
1-2 = Icon/tab key
format [icon/tab] [description]
example red tab = @home
blue tab= @work
i = info
-> = next action
(p) = belongs to project
descr. etc etc.. make this as you like
Here you can put a desciption of the icons and tabs you will
be using.
3-60 = Next actions
format [date] [description] [status] [important] [waiting for]
descr. Tickler items underlined
4 colorcoded tabs for contexts
*home* *work* *computer* *other*
(you should edit the number and names of context so that
they fit your demands)
1 page per context. When a page is full, move colored tab to
next empty page.
In the Moleskine I currently use, I’ve set the four tabs
dividing the section in 4 to avoid moving around tabs later
Done actions are checked off.
Use the [important] column if an action is very important or if
it’s set to a specific date or something like that.
The [important] column is flexible.
Actions are mostly processed in [Inbox] before being put
here in the appropriate context
61-66 = Waiting for **colorcoded tab here**
format [date] [description] [relation] [status]
descr. Here you type in the things you’re waiting for.
Maybe you need someone to do something so that you can
get on with your project.
Maybe you’re awaiting a parcel from a webshop.
Or maybe you’ve lent someone money. Remember to add
dates so that you know when
to expect completion.
Anything you need OTHERS to do goes here.
If it’s related to a project, you can put the project
pagenumber in the [relation].
67-70 = Projects overview ***colorcoded tab here***
format [Project description] [page number] [status]
descr. Here you make a list of the projects you’ve got going.
Put the pagenumber here too so that you can find the
project easily.
This list should be updated immediately when you make a
new project.
When a project is done or aborted, you can write it in the
[status] column.
71-86 = Projects
format [project descr.] [project start date] [project complete date]
[next action] [status] [date]
[next action] [status] [date]
[next action] [status] [date]
[notes]
descr. I feel that there’s no need to describe this. I imagine that
everyone has a different
opinion on how to layout their project information.
idea **For faster progress, actions can be copied from
[Projects] to [Next actions]**
87-98 = Storage ***colorcoded tab here***
format [date] [stored item]
descr. Your brothers birthday
Important data
Passwords
How far away the moon is from here
Anything worth storing goes here.
99-106 = Someday / Maybe **colorcoded tab here**
format [date] [description] [status/info]
descr. This section is for tasks or projects that you’ve
processed from your [Inbox] that you
don’t want to or can’t do at the moment.
Or maybe a project that you MIGHT do in the
future. Kinda like a list of ideas and things you want.
Then you can review these every
now and then to decide if/when you want to start on them…
A future project wishlist.
117-192 = Inbox
format [date] [note/idea/other] [status]
descr. This is the most important part of your Moleskine.
This is where ANY new idea or thought
worth writing down goes.
Appointments etc goes here also. Practically anything.
When you have time for it you start here,
taking ONE line, processing it and going on to
the next line.
While processing you decide if the line is actionable,
should be discarded, stored etc etc
and then move it to the appropriate section
in your Moleskine.
If any action takes less than 2 minutes to complete,
you should do it instantly.
Use your own icons to mark HOW the notes are
processed.
(deleted/stored/processed/done/etc.)
**Icons can be described on pages 1-4**
Put colorcoded tab on the current page that needs
processing
(right after a completely processed page). This way
you know where to start when you
want to process your [Inbox] again
Another smart option is to put color paperclips
here. They are easier to move around.
You will most likely move the tab here often.
Put the Moleskine fabric bookmark at
the page you’re currently at for
quick access when an idea comes up.
idea ** you can flip the notebook and begin the
Inbox section from page 192 and work your way
towards the middle of the notebook if you wish.
Backpocket = Use as you wish. Money / cards should fit nicely
You should also stick a couple of tabs
of each color somewhere here.
When/if a tab loses it’s ability to stick, just replace it.
—————————————————————————————————————-
Thats it!
How did you like it?

Greenlandic culture?! December 14, 2007

Greenlandics (a large percentage of them..) has an alcohol problem…
Partying tonight gave me the inspiration to another subject to write about in my blog.
Right now I’m still a bit drunk, I will brainstorm and write a little about it tomorrow…
Tonight I’m paaaarteey-ing.
New blog online! December 13, 2007

I’ve successfully moved this blog to:
The blog is okay, but not quite finished yet.
I still need to fine-tune a couple of things, design included.
I will begin erasing my posts here one by one, linking to the new site.
That should make the transfer pretty smooth.
AdSense doesn’t work with WordPress.com December 11, 2007

I’ve managed to get AdSense to work..
It seems that wordpress.COM users are not allowed to advertise..
I’ve downloaded WordPress.org and put it on a FREE webhotel, and I’ve added a FREE domain-name.
Check it out HERE.
That’s with free web-hosting.
I will have to pay for a domain-name + hosting later to get a decent speed, but you can also access
the test-blog at my new FREE domain: http://www.jangeisler.eu.tp
If the web-hosting and domain redirecting were faster, I could recommend it.
It was fairly easy to set up.
I might write a step by step guide for making a FREE WordPress.org blog and inserting your AdSense ads..

PPP – Pay per Play December 10, 2007

I’ve checked out the Pay Per Play concept which will be launched in 2008.
The idea is a bit similar to AdSense.
But instead of depending on people to actually click on an advertisement for you to get paid,
you get paid when someone merely opens your website.
While your website is loading, the Pay Per Play code will play an advertisement for a few seconds only, so that
companies get their message out with no doubt, and you get your money for every visit.
I don’t think that a 5 second message will be annoying, considering that some websites have music playing
constantly while viewing them.
If this great idea becomes real, it’s gonna be much more interesting and appealing than AdSense.
I’ve signed up already to be one of the first users to try it out when they launch it.

AdSense + WordPress… .. ..? December 10, 2007

Google AdSense approved my application, BUT in order to implement Adsense into my blog here on WordPress, I would have to upgrade my account and then install an AdSense plugin. (if I don’t want to fiddle with .php files myself)
But it seems that WordPress doesn’t approve the use of Adsense.
I might start looking for another place to open a blog before this one gets too big..
Sad… I like the simplicity of WordPress..
GTD+R December 7, 2007

Have you ever experienced those days, weeks or even months where work and things to do just seems to pile up?
Have you noticed that you spend MUCH more of your time than nescessary to find out what to do and when?
And sometimes you actually forget important things to do.
Or are you one of those (us) who procrastinates? Doing tomorrow what you could’ve done today?
I’m a big fan of David Allen’s GTD system. (Getting Things Done).
The GTD system practically helps you putting things to do in system so that you’re always doing excactly
what you’re supposed to do, prioritizing the tasks for TODAY before less important tasks. (and much more)
I’m not going to explain the GTD system for you, you can find out about it HERE instead.
I was sooo lazy that I could’nt even attend to my GTD system until I found this.
Kenji Ohta made some printable “folders” to sort your future tasks in.
He explains his system thoroughly, how to collect all your notes every morning and how to sort them in the folders.

(picture from Kenji’s blog)
The system which he calls GTD+R is pretty much like a game, where the main objective is to empty your “TODAY” folder.
An important part of the “game” is the strategy part where you write new things to do, and empty your folders in order
to sort all of your notes into the appropriate folders.
Using this system, it seems (at last) as I will be able to become and keep organized.
The cards are easily printable, and you only need to fold them following instructions.
(theres also a “gamefield” available, but I didn’t print that. Seems a bit too childish to me)
Check it out HERE
